2. AI: The Future of Skin Cancer Detection?
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized the first artificial intelligence-powered medical device to help doctors detect the most common forms of skin cancer in patients. The device, called DermaSensor, is a non-invasive, handheld device that uses AI-powered spectroscopy technology to assess cellular and below-the-skin’s-surface characteristics of lesions on a patient’s skin. It provides real-time results based on an AI algorithm that is trained on data related to more than 4,000 malignant and benign lesions. The device can assess moles for basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. The FDA has approved DermaSensor’s AI-powered wireless device to help evaluate skin lesions suggestive of these cancers. Read More.

3. AI Learns Geometry at Gold Medal Level - No Lessons Required
Google DeepMind Research has introduced AlphaGeometry, an AI system that solves complex geometry problems at a level approaching a human Olympiad gold-medalist. In a benchmarking test of 30 Olympiad geometry problems, AlphaGeometry solved 25 within the standard Olympiad time limit. The AI system combines the predictive power of a neural language model with a rule-bound deduction engine, which work in tandem to find solutions. By developing a method to generate a vast pool of synthetic training data, the system can be trained without any human demonstrations. AlphaGeometry’s neuro-symbolic approach is a breakthrough in AI performance and demonstrates AI’s growing ability to reason logically, and to discover and verify new knowledge. Read More.
